For whatever reason, the Adsense plugin that I used to rock with Wordpress…the Acme Adsense-Deluxe one…well, it brings up errors for me now. I’m not dissing these guys. I am openly admitting that I might be doing something wrong. But, you know…I need something because…you know…child support payments and daycare and Disney…

…and, if you want to make some money online…Adsense is one of the most no-brainer sort of ways as it’s got the whole contextual deal going for it…and, I’ve had some good times with the swag.

So, I found a very cool Adsense Plugin that’s working just fine. Thanks Phil Hord!

Also, here’s a year-old list of a bunch of Adsense WP plugins. The thing about WordPress that you always have to be mindful of is that they’re updating the code all the time…which is a good thing…however, sometimes it does break the hacks; and, then you’ve got to scramble some kid to get everything purring again.

…until I saw a referral from there tonight…and, it’s probably a terrible sign that I haven’t seen any referrals from there for so long…but, Google Trends is very cool if you’re rocking a blog that covers any sort of current events such as sports, news, celebrity, politics, etc.

Instantly tap into what tons of people are searching for and just start writing like crazy. There was a time when I used to do that every day…and, then I sort of stopped. Why? I don’t know.

There were days where I’d pop a hot query and get 10,000+ visitors in a ten hour period. And, the traffic would last for three or four days and then the news would be old and the traffic would taper off. But, for whatever reason, it got harder for me to do that with newer sites that didn’t have an abundance of inbound links.

Just for fun, here’s the top 50 right now on Sept. 4, 2008. It should be interesting to look back at this ten or twenty years from now…(or even next month) : ) ……..

You ever look at the style sheet for a couple hours…just getting totally perplexed about how the web author is using css to center the page?

Maybe not. Maybe you’re a CSS guru. But, as for me…I’ve got a somewhat basic understanding of the swag. Well, in my case, they were pulling the centering magic by doing this:

Do you like it that Google rules the internet?

Well, whether you like it or not…I’m sorry to say…it’s true. It may be an ugly truth; but, the bottom line is that when you rank well in G for a sweet-money query…the traffic and checks roll in like water over the levee in New Orleans.

Now, have you ever noticed that your rankings can seem to vary drastically some days? That’s because G is using a lot of different datacenters; and, you can pull results from different boxes and get different serps.

This is particularly evident during their famous updates. That’s one of the times that this Data Center check tool comes in particularly handy. McDar used to be great for this but they seem to have gone the way of the dinosaur…so, I’ll be using this swag.

I’m making this post because I’m always meaning to submit to BOTW; but, I’m always forgetting! A few people I respect maintain that it’s one of the few worthwhile directories to submit to these days.
